The Ripple-connected banks in the framework mostly use RippleNet for messaging only, but around 40% use On-Demand Liquidity where XRP is actually required as a bridge asset. Ripple is indirectly connected to SWIFT through Thunes, which recently brought stablecoin payouts to all 11,500 SWIFT-connected banks, creating a routing chain where payments can settle on Ripple's ODL rails using XRP.
