They had to go far from home to get back a win they felt they gave away the last time out, but the Notre Dame basketball team got it back. Got it back with some defense and determination and guts and guile. For the first time since the 2016-17 season, Notre Dame won its league opener on the road following a 47-40 victory late Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Stanford. The Irish improve to 10-4 overall, 1-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference in a game they led for 30:53. Freshman Jalen Haralson led the Irish with 13 points. Notre Dame finished with a +12 rebounding advantage. Notre Dame dug in and defended in a game that it held Stanford to 23.2 percent from the field, 13.3 percent from 3. Except for one brief burst late in the second half, the Cardinal offense never found a flow.
