The energy company inched 0.57% higher on Friday. Since the start of the year, CVX has risen about 8%, underperforming the S&P 500 index which rose about 9% over that period. On a 12-month reading, CVX had slipped about 4%. Looking at Seeking Alpha's Quant ratings, CVX had a Hold rating with a score of 3.36 out of 5. The company received an A+ for its profitability but a D for growth prospects. The stock also got a D+ for valuation compared to a C- six months ago. Turning to the Wall Street community , about 17 analysts surveyed in the last 90 days rated CVX as a Buy or higher. Meanwhile, another seven analysts rated the company as a Hold. Seeking Alpha analysts generally saw the company as a Buy.
