Pfizer Plans to Sell About £2 Billion of Shares in Haleon [BNN Bloomberg (Canada)]

The US company, which has said for some time it planned to start selling down its stake in the maker of Centrum vitamins, will offer 630 million shares of Haleon. As part of the process, Haleon will buy back about £315 milion of its shares from Pfizer. Haleon was formed from a combination of British drugmaker GSK Plc's and Pfizer Inc.'s consumer-health units. GSK opted to split it off to focus on its pharma and vaccines business amid pressure from activist investor Elliott Investment Management. GSK has been selling down its stake for some time but this marks the start of Pfizer offloading its holding. Pfizer has said before it wants to focus on pharma innovations. The sale and buyback will reduce Pfizer's stake in Haleon to about 24% from 32%, according to a statement. ©2024 Bloomberg L.P.
