Outperformance was mostly a result of strong contributions from the company's shallow water abandonment and robotics operations. HLX generated an eye-catching $107 million in free cash flow and finished the quarter with $445 million in cash and equivalents and $315 million in funded debt. While the company's near-term outlook remains somewhat muted, a number of headwinds are expected to abate over the course of this year, thus paving the way for improved 2027 results. With Helix Energy Solutions commanding the industry's strongest balance sheet, the company remains my top pick among offshore oil and gas service stocks.
