The Internal Revenue Service and Colorado Department of Revenue have been accepting 2025 tax returns since late January, but if you haven't gotten around to completing them — or even starting — yet, don't stress, there's still time. With two weeks left until the state and federal submission deadlines, here's what to know about tax season, from deadlines and new deductions to how to file and track your refund. When are tax returns due? Both state and federal tax returns are due by midnight on April 15. If you need to file your state income taxes later, Colorado offers an automatic six-month extension as long as at least 90% of the amount owed has been paid, according to the Colorado Department of Revenue website.
