Canadians have until March 2 to contribute to their Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) for the 2025 tax year, giving savers a final opportunity to lower their taxable income and boost their retirement nest egg. This year, Canadians can contribute up to $32,490, or 18 per cent of their 2024 earned income, whichever is less. At the same time, Canadians are increasingly feeling pinched when it comes to retirement planning. According to a BMO survey, Canadians now believe they need $1.7 million to retire comfortably , yet over one-third (36 per cent) feel it's unlikely they'll meet that goal. With uncertainty weighing on long-term savings plans, experts say it's critical to make the most of your RRSP each year.
