CVS slashed its adjusted earnings guidance to at least $7 from at least $8.30, according to a statement Wednesday. The company also lowered its forecast for cash flow from operations by $1.5 billion to at least $10.5 billion. The shares fell as much as 11% before US markets opened. If that holds into regular trading hours, the company would be set for its biggest intraday drop since October 2022. The Woonsocket, Rhode Island-based drugstore chain, which has been taking steps to expand further into other dimensions of health care, revised its outlook to reflect the assumption that the trend toward elevated medical costs will persist throughout 2024, the statement said. Adjusted earnings for the quarter were $1.31 a share. Revenue was $88.4 billion, up 3.7% compared to the prior year but falling short of the $89.3 billion estimated by analysts.
