Summary Hurco saw significant declines in revenue and orders as the industrial downturn works its way through the machine tool industry, and decremental margin leverage was steep. U.S. orders may have already bottomed and Hurco is near the end of the typical 4-6 quarter downturn window, but weakness in Europe needs to be watched closely. Hurco shares look undervalued on a discounted cash flow basis, but Germany is a near-term risk and substitution/competition from additive manufacturing is a long-term risk. Although the shares were down on the day of the announcement, I can’t really say that HURC written previously Additive manufacturing remains a long-term threat to machine tool companies like Hurco and DMG Mori OTCPK:MRSKY Another Step Down With weak IP numbers in Germany and other key markets, Hurco’s demand environment remains quite weak.
