IBP remains a dominant insulation installer, expanding into adjacent markets, but still relies heavily on new construction, making it cyclical. Despite stable performance and ongoing bolt-on M&A, earnings growth has stagnated while the stock's valuation has surged to about 28x earnings. Given the sharp re-rating and relative outperformance, I am very cautious on Installed Building Products at current levels and see better opportunities elsewhere.
