Tru Fru's third-party manufacturer recently recalled certain batches of the freeze-dried fruit snacks after a customer reported the presence of metal in the product. Georgia Nut Company (GNC) initiated a voluntary recall for Tru Fru's "Freeze Dried Strawberries & Crème" and "Freeze Dried Strawberries In Dark & White Chocolate." Tru Fru, LLC formally notified the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday, Sept. 26, after receiving a report from a customer. The affected Tru Fru products were distributed to retailers across the United States, including but not limited to Albertsons, CVS, Food Lion, H-E-B, Hungryroot, Ingles Markets, Kroger, Stew Leonard's and Target, according to the notice published by the FDA on Monday, Sept. 29. The notice adds: "No other Tru Fru products are affected by this voluntary recall nor are any lots outside of those listed in the table."
