After a solid Fed Week, U.S. equities paled back today, retreating from all-time highs set to end last week. The Russell 2000 (-0.66%) was worst situated today, along with the Nasdaq (-0.59%). Tech names were largely to blame in both indexes. By contrast, the S&P 500 (-0.16%) and Dow (-0.09%) experienced more modest declines -- crediting financials, industrials, and consumer durables. American automaker Ford will take more than $19.5 billion in charges as part of an overhaul of its electric vehicle business, which will come in the fourth quarter. The changes will see the company cancel an electric pickup and lean more into hybrid vehicles, which should mend some of the company's $5.1 billion EV-related loss.
