3 min read In this article Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to unveil the federal government's next round of major projects on Thursday. The announcement in the port city of Prince Rupert, B.C. will be closely watched by Canada's oil industry for progress on new pipelines to boost access to overseas markets. For oil and gas stocks, analysts at TD Securities say “takeaway capacity” will be a defining factor in the years ahead, recalling the recent swell of enthusiasm following the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion last May In a lengthy report published on Tuesday, a team led by TD's Menno Hulshof selected Imperial Oil ( IMO.TO IMO ), Athabasca Oil ( ATH.TO ), and Strathcona Resources ( SCR.TO ) as the best producers to take advantage of a potential buildout of new takeaway capacity, and sustained strength in heavy oil prices, through the third quarter of 2028.
