The national accounts were used to develop a sectoral balance model after the work of British economist Wynne Godley. One can summarize the national accounts in the following formula: GDI = GDP = Private Sector Spending [P] + Government Sector Spending [G] + External Sector Spending [X] See the methodology section below for more details on this formula.
