expect the bank to cut its base rate by 75 basis points as policymakers revert to a slower pace of easing. The forint was 0.25% stronger on the day, trading at 396.3 per euro ahead of the decision of the National Bank of Hungary (NBH) due to be announced at 1300 GMT. The bank will publish a statement at 1400 GMT. A Reuters poll of analysts expects a 75 basis points cut to 8.25%, slowing the pace of policy easing from the 100 basis points cut in February after the forint fell to near its one-year low earlier this month. The currency has been pressured by the size of the February rate cut, the government's proposal to change the law governing the central bank, which markets fear could undermine its independence, and a move by European lawmakers to overturn a decision to release some funds to Hungary. "The situation remains fragile, especially going into the second quarter with the looming central bank law change, EU funds issues and the approaching EU and local elections," ING wrote in
