ING is executing well against management's 2027 targets. Its net interest margin has stabilized, fee income is growing nicely, and cost control remains solid. This is supporting healthy earnings growth. While credit costs may spike in a downturn, ING is currently provisioning near its through-the-cycle average. This leaves it well placed compared to some of its peers. With most of its surplus capital now distributed and its valuation re-rating significantly, the value case for ING has become less compelling.
