Stocks ded higher Wednday on the back of positive data from a pottial coronavirus treatmt from Gilead Scic, while traders asssed a sharp drop in U.S. economic activity.Load ErrorThe Dow closed up 5 points, or .%. The S&P 500 gained .6%, while the Nasdaq added .5%. The major averag held on to their gains after the Federal Rerve pledged to keep rat lower for as long as needed.Wednday’s gains put the S&P 500 up more than % for the month. That would be the index’s biggt one-month gain since 97. The Dow is up .% for April and is headed for its biggt monthly gain since 987.A study of Gilead’s remdivir drug conducted by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseas met its primary dpoint, the drugmaker said, lifting expectations for a pottial coronavirus treatmt. Gilead also released the rults of its own study, which showed improvemt in patits taking remdivir to treat the virus.
