Related news Robotic surgery giant Intuitive Surgical ( ISRG ) tumbled more than 16% in the first three months of 2020, as ISRG stock underperformed its medical technology peers. In the first quarter, the coronavirus pandemic slugged Intuitive Surgical as both sales and earnings hit their slowest point in years. Further, Intuitive Surgical said it couldn't offer an outlook for 2020 amid uncertainty related to the outbreak. The robotic surgery company is also facing a deluge of new rivals, including medtech companies Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ ), Medtronic ( MDT ) and Stryker ( SYK ), as well as Google, the Alphabet ( GOOGL ) subsidiary.
