The Lumex CSS platform, which was introduced earlier last month, is an update to Arm's mobile platform. Previously, it and other market-specific platforms carried the CSS nomenclature and a year name, with no market-specific designation. While it remains unclear whether this new branding strategy will make any significant difference to customers, the mobile branding for the CSS platform is now Lumex. Arm's popular CSS approach combines CPU, GPU and system IP into a nicely integrated package with many customization options. Arm pitches CSS as a way to enable its partners to innovate more quickly by reducing complexity and shortening time-to-market. And Lumex is already gaining traction; for instance, MediaTek features the Lumex platform in its new Dimensity 9500 flagship processor for smartphones (which I'll be writing about soon).
