Del Taco's sale to Yadav Enterprises was finalized in late December for approximately $119 million — a significant markdown from the approximately $585 million Jack in the Box paid for the concept in March 2022. The chain's sales declined nearly 2% from 2023 to 2024, according to Technomic data, while two franchisees recently filed for bankruptcy . With a fresh slate, however, the Mexican quick-service concept is now launching a turnaround plan called Project Sunrise. According to the company, the plan is aimed at “strengthening brand performance, embracing innovation and, most importantly, reconnecing Del Taco to its passionate guests.” Project Sunrise establishes an 18-month roadmap prioritizing consistency and quality across core menu items, as well as new innovation to drive trial.
