Holiday travel turned a lot more stressful fast this weekend with the winter storm sweeping through the Northeast, compelling U.S. airlines to cancel more than 1,600 flights and delay thousands more. The disruptions hit at a rough point, with airports already packed and travelers trying to get home or make it to family gatherings. JetBlue ( NASDAQ:JBLU ) was the hardest hit, canceling 225 flights, followed by Delta with 186. American and United also pulled dozens of flights as snow and ice made normal operations impossible. In total, about 11,000 flights were delayed, leaving multiple passengers stuck for hours or scrambling to rebook. Airlines tried to soften the blow by waiving change fees and fare differences for affected routes, but storms like this still come with real costs. Moving crews, rerouting planes, and caring for stranded passengers adds up quickly. For investors, the timing isn't ideal since the holidays are a key revenue period. Still, weather disruptions
