The move comes just days after Elliott Investment Management, a U.S. investment group, decided not to pursue buying the company as well. Last month, Currys rejected an offer by Elliot of approximately $884M for being too low. Last month, it was believed JD.com and Elliot might engage in a bidding war for Currys, which has retail outlets across the UK and Scandinavia. However, "following careful consideration," JD.com has decided not to make a bid, according to the report JD.com ticked up about during afternoon trading Friday. Currys has struggled to grow over the past couple of years due to lowered spending by consumers. However, it expected consumer confidence to improve going forward in its latest business forecast “We've had a successful Peak trading period, for customers who are more satisfied than ever, and for profits and cashflow," said Currys CEO Alex Baldock in January.
