The European Union harmonized consumer-price index (CPI) rose 2.4% in November—the lowest since July 2021—down from 2.9% in October and below expectations of 2.7% price growth among economists surveyed by FactSet. “The data boosted expectations that the European Central Bank will begin slashing rates sooner rather than later, with the latest market pricing suggesting that the Europeans may beat the Fed with the first rate cut of the cycle,” said Raffi Boyadjian, an analyst at broker XM.
