But does it actually add value? First, the market doesn't usually do much anyway. Whether it's up or down a percent or two, who cares? It's noise. Second, any speculation as to why it moved the way it did often sounds like a just-so story. Did some macroeconomic number come out? Then the market was either up or down, because or despite of it. Did no macroeconomic number come out? Then expectations must have changed, or a supply shock, or liquidity constraints.
