Hut 8, which spun off its bitcoin-mining business to become an energy infrastructure provider, announced a deal to build a 245-megawatt data center for Anthropic in Louisiana, with potential to grow the AI infrastructure supply deal to 2,295 MW. Google will provide the financial backstop for the 15-year $7 billion lease agreement, with project financing provided by JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs. The arrangement enables Hut 8 to pursue its expansion ambitions while the former bitcoin miner moves toward an investment-grade credit rating.
