The dispute centers on the Development Finance Corp.'s (DFC) capacity to provide emergency coverage for oil tankers traversing the volatile Persian Gulf as geopolitical tensions continue to roil energy markets. The disagreement follows a Wednesday report from JPMorgan analysts, including Natasha Kaneva, which estimated the DFC's remaining lending headroom at approximately $154 billion. The bank calculated that private markets are currently failing to provide roughly $352 billion in necessary insurance for Gulf-bound vessels, concluding that the DFC's current firepower is "too small for the risk."
