As Ms Reeves prepares to meet global leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, she said her message to attendees was that Britain was the “best place in the world to invest”. She claimed the UK was home to the “stability, talent and capital” that would drive growth across companies and the economy. The Chancellor's claim to be bringing stability stands in contrast to her record of repeated about-turns on everything from winter fuel to digital IDs since she came to power. The Resolution Foundation, which has been called Labour's favourite think tank, warned this week that the party's £8.2bn worth of policy reversals had damaged the economy. In a blow to Ms Reeves's credibility, one in four British chief executives surveyed by PwC said they expected the economy to decline this year, as companies struggle with red tape and Labour's repeated tax raids.
