construction will soon begin, officials associated with the development announced recently. The financial closing for the complex, which includes 146 apartment homes and retail space, was announced by Columbia Residential, a real estate company based in Atlanta, the Athens Housing Authority (AHA), and the Jonathan Rose Company, a real estate company with offices nationwide. The new development called The Square at NoDA (North Downtown Area) is the second phase of the downtown redevelopment project. The first phase, The View at NoDA, is completed, and the 120-unit apartment complex was opened in December. The View was also developed through a partnership with the housing authority, Athens government and Columbia Residential and Jonathan Rose Company. The Square at NoDa will include retail and community space, such as an exercise room, computer center and courtyard, according to the report.
