CLEVELAND, July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY) today announced second quarter net income from continuing operations attributable to Key common shareholders of $464 million, or $.44 per common share, compared to $402 million, or $.38 per common share, for the first quarter of 2018 and $393 million, or $.36 per common share, for the second quarter of 2017. Key's results in the second quarter of 2018 and the second quarter of 2017 included a number of notable items; additional detail can be found on page 24 of this release."Second quarter results were strong, driven by broad-based growth and momentum in our commercial and consumer businesses. Continued loan growth, higher fees, and expense discipline drove positive operating leverage for the quarter. Importantly, our cash efficiency ratio improved to 58.8% and our return on tangible common equity was 16.7%.
