Kroger Co. will begin the limit the number of shoppers allowed in its stores to 50% of capacity, starting on Tuesday. The measure, which is similar to one BJ's Wholesale Club Holdings Inc. has put in place, is intended to help shoppers and workers adhere to social distancing guidelines. The grocer is also testing one-way aisles to maintain space between people in stores. Walmart Inc. started limiting the number of shoppers in its stores to 20% of capacity on Saturday, is restricting entry to one door to control traffic and is launching one-way aisles. Kroger stock has soared 35.7% over the past year while the S&P 500 index has fallen 9.2% for the period.
