The calendar flips from 2025 to 2026 this week, and whether you are ringing in the new year at a party or at home in some cozy pajamas, consumers will have options if they need to make a last-minute trip to the store or go on a food run. That's because some national grocery and retail chains will remain open on New Year's Day this year, as well as many restaurant chains Banks, post offices , and the stock market will be closed on the holiday. Unfortunately for Costco members, the wholesale club won't be an option for consumers on Jan. 1, as the company's website says warehouses will be closed on the holiday. Stores are scheduled to reopen on Friday, Jan. 2, under normal hours. Customers can use the warehouse locator to find hours for the warehouse nearest them.
