Kohl's Kicks Off the Holiday Hiring Season The retail chain hopes to get ahead of its rivals in what has been a very tight labor market. It's Christmas in July -- at least when it comes to hiring. Kohl's ( NYSE:KSS ) has kicked off the holiday season early by launching an effort to recruit workers for 500 of its stores and distribution centers. Kohl's is trying to lock down workers before rivals even start hiring, which may be a smart play with U.S. unemployment rates near historic lows. The retail chain actually has pretty modest goals. It wants to add early seasonal temporary employees across 500 locations. Those location numbers will increase in August, with all the chain's stores and distribution and e-commerce fulfillment centers adding both full- and part-time workers. The company also has 3,000 traditional positions open across all of its locations.
