"Cable fundamentals are in a muted place that we now assume remains intractable making lower trading multiples persist," analyst Barton Crockett wrote in a note to clients. Crockett lowered his rating on Charter, which owns the Spectrum cable brand, to Neutral from Buy and cut his price target to $335 from $472. Despite the downgrade of Charter, Crockett left his rating on Charter-derivative Liberty Broadband ( LBRDK ) at Buy, noting it remains "relatively attractive" due to its discounted capital structure. Liberty Broadband is slated to report fiscal fourth-quarter results on Friday. A consensus of analysts expect the company to earn $1.54 per share on $249.73M in revenue.
