On April 6, 2026, Liberty Global Ltd. (NASDAQ:LBTYA) was reported to have submitted an offer to acquire a London-based franchise that would be part of a new European basketball league being developed by the U.S. National Basketball Association. According to a Sky News report, the company made its bid ahead of a recent deadline and is exploring a potential partnership with MSP Sports Capital or Jahm Najafi, one of MSP's founders, for the NBA Europe franchise. Earlier in April, Bloomberg reported that Liberty Global has engaged Goldman Sachs to arrange a sale of a stake in Belgian network company Wyre. Sources said the 50% stake could be valued at around EUR 1B and may draw interest from infrastructure funds and private equity firms.
