They said the maker of products such as Scotch tape and Post-it Notes is poised to expand its profit margin with the transition to a new chief executive. “This change is likely to yield a portfolio review,” Julian Mitchell, analyst at Barclays, said in a March 19 report. 3M ( MMM ) this month appointed William Brown, former chairman and chief executive of defense contractor L3Harris Technologies ( LHX ), to be its new CEO starting on May 1. He will replace Michael Roman, who will take the role as executive chairman. Barclays also said 3M ( MMM ) is making progress on legal settlements as the target of multiple product-liability lawsuits. The company was sued for making what are known as “forever chemicals” that were alleged to have polluted water supplies, and for making combat ear plugs that veterans claimed were defective.
