In their 2026 Semiconductors and Automotive Technologies Outlook, analyst Vijay Rakesh said the U.S. chip sector continues to offer attractive valuations, although upside is expected to be more modest than 2025, when the SOX rose 45%. He identified Nvidia, Lumentum, and Broadcom as the firm's “top picks for 2026” based on secular trends in AI accelerators, networking, and memory. Rakesh noted that AI spending, wafer fabrication equipment, and memory cycles are expected to support a strong first half, powering tier-one and sovereign AI server ramps. “AVGO, NVDA remain best-positioned to benefit from secular trends in AI accelerator demand as hyperscaler capex is expected up 32% y/y to ~$540B,” he wrote. Mizuho also highlighted two key outperformers, Microchip Technology and Lam Research, citing their strategic exposure to wafer fabrication and AI-related growth.
