Medicare drug price negotiations kick-started by the Biden administration will finally result in lower drug prices for seniors beginning Jan. 1. The Medicare-negotiated price cuts will apply to 10 drugs prescribed to treat cancer, heart disease, autoimmune conditions and diabetes. The drugs are Eliquis, Jardiance, Xarelto, Januvia, Farxiga, Entresto, Enbrel, Imbruvica, Stelara and NovoLog. Medicare enrollees will save an average of more than 50% on out-of-pocket costs for these drugs under their insurance plans, according to an AARP analysis published Dec. 18. Seven of the 10 drugs will cost less than $100 per month, AARP said. The analysis examined stand-alone Medicare prescription drug insurance plans in five states, but AARP officials said the results are representative of what consumers will see nationwide. About 9 million Americans used the 10 drugs, and the discounted prices will save consumers an estimated $1.5 billion in 2026, according to the Centers for Medicare & M
