Billionaire Stan Kroenke 's 937,000-acre New Mexico land purchase in December propelled him to the No. 1 spot on the 2026 Land Report 100. While the financial terms of the off-market deal remain undisclosed, the scale makes it the largest land purchase in the U.S. in over a decade, according to The Land Report. He moved from the No. 4 spot on the list, past California's Emmersons, who own forest timber products company Sierra Pacific Industries, at No. 2 with 2.44 million acres, Liberty Media Chairman Emeritus John Malone at No. 3 with 2.2 million acres and CNN founder Ted Turner at No. 4 with 2 million acres.
