Hillsboro, Ore.-based Lattice earned an adjusted 15 cents a share on sales of $97.3 million in the first quarter . Wall Street was modeling earnings of 14 cents a share on sales of $98.3 million. On a year-over-year basis, earnings rose 36% while sales dipped 1%. The maker of low-power programmable chips reported late Tuesday that its adjusted gross profit margin improved to 59.8% during the quarter. That compares with 59.6% in the fourth quarter and 58.6% in the first quarter last year. For the second quarter, Lattice Semiconductor predicted sales of $100 million, vs. analyst expectations for $100.9 million.
