LWAY stock has increased by 100% due to margin recovery and speculation of a potential acquisition. While Lifeway is a promising company, its market price is considered excessive from an operational standpoint. Lifeway Foods ( NASDAQ: LWAY ) is the US leader in milk kefir products. The company commands a large share of this growing market and has expanded sales almost consistently since going public in the early 1990s. In my latest company review , I issued a Hold rating on the stock one year ago. The reason was a lack of gross margin strength and an elevated market price, even assuming margin recovery. One year after the article, the stock trades 100% higher. The reason has been margin recovery and speculation about a potential sale of the company to interested incumbents. In this review, I find that the margin recovery has been industry-wide but that the company has benefited from it and controlled other expenses.
