U.S. District Judge Claria Boom, on April 6, denied Yunior Sosa Ordonez's request to be released from the Oldham County Detention Center, where he has been held since October. She ruled that Sosa Ordonez's right to due process had not been violated as claimed. Sosa Ordonez, 51, has been trying to get released since late January, when his Pewee Valley-based lawyer, Matthew Conway, filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus in the Western District of Kentucky, alleging that he was being held unlawfully. Conway noted in the petition that Sosa Ordonez was reportedly a victim of a 2024 carjacking and included a letter from an assistant prosecutor at the Jefferson County Commonwealth Attorney's Office sent to the ICE field office in Chicago, urging ICE to take action to ensure his “continued presence and availability to testify in the pending prosecution.” “His testim
