Toys 'R' Us And b8ta: Can Old And New Retail Harmonize? The rumored return of Toys “R” Us can now be confirmed, but it will happen with a twist. TRU Kids Brands, the parent of Toys “R” US, has announced the openings of two locations in time for the holidays. The first two new stores will be located in The Galleria in Houston, Texas, owned by Simon, and in Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey. What’s unique about this renewal is that the store will be done in partnership with b8ta, which bills itself as a software-powered experiential retailer. b8ta has made a splash in the retail world by embracing the notion of being a “showroom,” a place for shoppers to be immersed and learn about products without necessarily buying an item in the store. b8ta works with suppliers to essentially pay for a space in the store, where their products are showcased with expert personnel on hand to demonstrate. b8ta currently lists 17 locations across the U.S., including a high-profile openin
