On April 21, Tempo, the payments blockchain backed by Stripe and venture capital firm Paradigm, announced its partnership with DoorDash and others to bring stablecoin-powered payouts to the global marketplace. What makes this different from other crypto payments Unlike the wave of athletes and influencers who have converted USD salaries into Bitcoin through third-party apps, DoorDash's move is structurally distinct. The company is helping build the actual payment rails for merchant and contractor payouts, not routing around existing infrastructure, but replacing it. That distinction matters at scale. According to McKinsey's analysis with Artemis Analytics, global payroll and remittances accounted for roughly $90 billion in annualised stablecoin payment volumes in 2025, while B2B stablecoin payments surged 733% year over year.
