Talks between Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and China's economic czar, Vice Premier He Lifeng, covered cooperation in areas such as the financial sector, including initiatives to strengthen market connectivity and linkages, Singapore said in a statement late Wednesday. The two countries are looking to establish a mutual visa-free arrangement that will allow citizens from both nations to visit the other for up to 30 days without the need for a visa, the Straits Times reported Thursday, citing Wong. China has moved to shore up investor confidence and unleash a flurry of market access concessions since Chinese leader Xi Jinping met President Joe Biden in the US last month. Steps have included approving a long-delayed Mastercard Inc. joint venture, and announcing visa-free access to China for six countries.
