Kahan, who is set to release said follow-up entitled "The Great Divide" on April 24, tells USA TODAY that it was "unbelievable" to record some of the album at Aaron Dessner's Long Pond Studio. Dessner, who also serves as a producer on Kahan's upcoming fourth LP, has welcomed the likes of Bon Iver Ed Sheeran Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift to his digs. While Kahan was recording his album, the "Dial Drunk" singer found "a binder full of unreleased songs" belonging to one of those artists. "I wouldn't even look at it," Kahan, 29, says over Zoom from Los Angeles. "I was getting starstruck just looking at the binder." The music belonged to Bon Iver's Justin Vernon. "So I was looking at this binder that said 'Vernon' on it," Kahan continues. "I'm like, 'My (expletive) God, one day I'm going to get the courage to leaf through it, but I don't wanna disrespect his own work. So if I ever get permission, I'll absolutely leaf through that and study what he does because I think he's a genius
