MediaAlpha Shares Rise 18% After Narrower-Than-Expected 4Q Loss [MarketWatch]

The information-technology company on Tuesday after market close reported a quarterly loss of $2.4 million, or 5 cents a share, compared with a loss of $27 million, or 63 cents a share, in the same quarter last year. Analysts polled by FactSet were looking for a loss of $8.7 million, or 18 cents a share. Advertisement Revenue for the quarter was $117.2 million, compared with last year's $124 million and the $113.2 million analysts were expecting. The company said its results exceeded its expectations, led by improving conditions in its Property & Casualty Insurance business. Fourth-quarter transaction value was $165.3 million, down 2% year over year. MediaAlpha said it is expecting first-quarter revenue of $105 million to $115 million, while analysts are looking for revenue of $111.2 million.
