CHICAGO, June 20, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI), a global developer of custom-engineered and application-specific products and solutions, announced financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year of Fiscal 2019 ended April 27, 2019. Fourth Quarter Fiscal 2019Methode's fourth-quarter Fiscal 2019 net sales increased $17.0 million, or 6.8 percent, to $266.0 million from $249.0 million in the same quarter of Fiscal 2018. Year over year, currency rate fluctuations decreased net sales $8.8 million. GAAP net income decreased $14.2 million to $22.6 million, or $0.60 per share, in the fourth quarter of Fiscal 2019 from $36.8 million, or $0.98 per share, in the same period of Fiscal 2018. Fiscal 2019 fourth-quarter tax expense was $7.5 million compared to a tax benefit of $6.0 million in the Fiscal 2018 fourth quarter, negatively impacting Fiscal 2019 fourth-quarter net income by $13.5 million year over year, or $0.36 per share, and was due mainly
