Meta lays off hundreds as top executives get paid more stock options [Yahoo! Finance]

According to The New York Times , these layoffs were announced not even a day after the company revealed a new stock option for six top executives. A stock option that could boost some of their pay by as much as $921 million within the next five years. Business Insider reports that a number of Meta employees were sent a message on Tuesday night telling them to work from home on Wednesday. Specifically, those working in the company's wearables and ads divisions. CNBC adds that these cuts will affect multiple Meta departments, including Facebook, global operations, recruiting, sales, and the virtual reality division under its Reality Labs. About 700 employees total will be impacted. “Teams across Meta regularly restructure or implement changes to ensure they're in the best position to achieve their goals,” a Meta spokesperson said via statement. “Where possible, we are finding other opportunities for employees whose positions may be impacted.” CNBC notes that these layoffs are
