Key Takeaways It took an escalating situation in the Middle East but for the first time in weeks, the biggest story of the day Thursday was not interest rates. After a day where markets were little changed during regular trading hours, index futures shot sharply lower and oil futures skyrocketed higher in after-hours trading following Israel's launch of a limited retaliatory attack on Iran. However, markets have since calmed as more details have emerged. Crude oil futures, which initially jumped over 4%, are now down just under 1% in premarket. Prices for gold also pulled back after an initial jump. Gold futures are down .25% premarket. Finally, prices for bonds increased and yields fell, reversing a course that has sent yields sharply higher of late.
