NEW YORK, Aug. 4, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- MFA Financial, Inc. (NYSE:MFA) today provided its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2022.Second Quarter 2022 financial results update:MFA generated a GAAP loss for the second quarter of ($108.6) million, or ($1.06) per common share1. Distributable Earnings, a non-GAAP financial measure, was $47.2 million, or $0.46 per common share.GAAP book value at June 30, 2022 was $16.42 per common share, while Economic book value, a non-GAAP financial measure of MFA's financial position, was $17.25 per common share at quarter-end.Continued increases in interest rates and wider spreads resulted in losses on our residential whole loans that are measured at fair value through earnings of $216.4 million.
